Try to keep up as Mr. Skin lays out the accomplished career of one Ms. Tamara Podemski, Canadian extraordinaire. The daughter of an Ashkenazi father from Israel, and an Ojibway mother from Treaty 4 Territory in Saskatchewan, Tamara was born and raised in Toronto, and studied music, dance, and theatre. In addition to her screen roles on television and in movies (more on that in a second), she’s also a famous stage actress who starred on Broadway in the musical Rent. She also has her own music label, Mukwa Music, and has released award-winning albums in both Anishinaabemowin (Ojibwe language) and English. Tamara is also a writer, and has penned all the episodes of the award-winning 2018-2019 documentary series Future History. And one more also—she’s also one helluva an actress. At age 17, she was cast as Little Margaret in the movie Dance Me Outside (1994), and followed it with the part of teenage Malia in the mini-series Blauvogel (1994). She did a star turn as Carla Slovinksy in the TV series Ready or Not from 1996-1997, before proving she was a full-fledge, fully grown woman as Rox in the movie Johnny Greyeyes (2000), where you can see her shadowed breasts as she has an evening bedroom rendezvous with her lover. In 2007, the dark-haired dish starred as Miri Smallhill in the film Four Sheets to the Wind, and took home a Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival for her performance. She’s been in a ton of other Canadian TV shows and movies, but fellow Canucks will know her best as Alison Trent in the series Coroner from 2019-2021, for which she won a Canadian Screen Award, the equivalent of an Emmy. If you’re in the US, look for her as Babe Cloud in HBO’s series Run in 2020. Which is appropriate, since you probably had to run to keep up with Tamara’s hot career.
